Liposuction Thigh Procedure: Options and Considerations
Inner Thigh Liposuction
Inner thigh liposuction is one of the most common areas for thigh liposuction. When choosing this area, many choose to treat the inner knees at the same time. If you find you want both the inner thigh and inner knee treated, having it done at the same time is beneficial. If the procedures are done separately there is a greater risk of an uneven liposuction.
Outer Thigh Liposuction
This area usually accumulates fat depending on your genetics and is an area that is resistant to diet and exercise. Just as inner thigh lipo is usually grouped with the inner knees, the outer thighs should generally be grouped with the inferior lateral buttock and upper posterior thigh. When just the outer thighs are treated, the result can be disproportionate.
Circumferential Thigh Liposuction
Circumferential thigh liposuction is a procedure that works on the entire circumference of the thighs. With this procedure there are some risks you should be aware of before choosing this option. This procedure can lead to prolonged healing and excessive swelling. The swelling can impair circulation and therefore venous drainage from the leg, which increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis (blood clotting). A DVT (deep vein thrombosis) can be life threatening and should not be taken lightly. This procedure is much safer if it is done in two procedures rather than completed in one day.
Cost
One item that must be considered with all thigh liposuctions is the cost. The liposuction thigh cost varies between the areas being treated. The average cost for only one area to be treated is anywhere from 1,600 to 5,000 dollars, with the inner thigh area being closer to 2,000-5,000 dollars and the outer thigh 1,600-5,000 dollars. Circumferential lipo is going to be more than the previous two since all areas of the thigh are being treated and it usually takes two procedures.
Before and After Appearance
Of course, another major consideration is the thigh liposuction before and after appearance. If you’re considering thigh liposuction, then your goal is to improve the appearance of your legs. While the results of lipo are generally long-lasting, there is an item that can decrease your happiness with the outcome: lumpiness or dimpling of the skin. Dimpling occurs more frequently when greater amounts of fat are removed. So keep in mind- when you want a great after appearance, be as close to your ideal weight as possible. This will decrease the amount of fat the surgeon has to remove; therefore decreasing the risk of skin dimpling and increasing your satisfaction with the outcome- the outcome being your appearance!
