Male Liposuction – What You Need To Know About Lipoplasty For Men
Common Male Liposuction Procedures
While women prefer to have fat removed from various parts of the body, men tend to focus on the abdomen, the chest and the arms.
Excess fat in the abdominal area are labeled “love handles” and are more prevalent among men. Despite proper dieting and exercise, love handles can be very difficult to get rid of; thus, men turn to liposuction.
Male breast liposuction or gynecomastia liposuction is also commonly performed. As men grow old and gain weight, fat deposits develop in the breast area creating the appearance of “man breasts” or “moobs”. Gynecomastia liposuction helps men sculpt their breasts to appear more muscular and lean.
What’s the Difference?
Men tend to have more skin elasticity than women. Thus, in most cases, recovery from liposuction is faster for men than for women.
Liposuction male costs more than liposuction female. This is because men are genetically predisposed to have more fibrous fatty tissues, which are very difficult to remove. Another reason behind this is that the areas for which men usually request fat removal are locations which tend to contain more fibrous fatty tissues (male breasts, “love handles” and abdomen). Men are often larger than women; hence, there is more fat to be removed.
Male Liposuction Before and After
Just like in females, male liposuction involves determining if a patient is a good candidate or not, by considering certain factors. These factors include skin elasticity (which tend to be higher in men than in women), age, health condition and prior surgeries. Though a patient qualifies for the procedure, if he or she does not fall under the “good candidate” category, he or she cannot expect the best results from the procedure. Certain health disorders may prevent a person, whether male or female, from qualifying for cosmetic surgery or liposuction.
Post-operative care is necessary to ensure faster and more effective recovery, even in males. After surgery, it’s important that the patient ask the surgeon about any warnings or tips to make sure that complications do not arise. With proper care, patients can expect to return to their regular daily routines (including reporting for work) within 2 to 3 days.
