Mini Liposuction – The Answer To Your Stubborn Fat

Many people find that despite going through rigorous exercise routines and extensive diet systems, there are small fat spots in the body that just won’t disappear. To remove this stubborn fat, mini liposuction provides a solution.

Mini liposuccion, or mini lipo for short, is intended to remove unwanted fat in small areas of the body such as around the knees, along the jaw line, on the cheeks and even in the upper arms. Because there is less fat to be removed, mini liposuction costs less.

The Skinny on Micro Liposuction

Mini or micro liposuction takes about an hour to complete and is often performed as an outpatient procedure. Since only small incisions will be made on the target area, local anesthesia and mild medications will suffice. Thus, the patient can stay awake and aware during the entire procedure.

Once the tiny incision is made, a needle injects sterile lipolytic fluid into the area. This fluid breaks down the fatty tissue, which the surgeon will then remove using a small cannula and a syringe. No stitches will be necessary as small incisions heal better without them. Because the target areas and the instruments used are so small, there is less bruising and swelling to be expected.

Post Surgery

Patients recover very quickly. In most cases, the patient can report back to work the following day. For best results, the surgeon may require the patient to administer post-operative care and to avoid certain activities such as immersing in pools and bath tubs or rigorous exercise routines.

Though mini liposuction is minimally invasive, there are still risks and possible complications. The most commonly reported complications are bruising, slight infection, bleeding and swelling. Post-lipoplasty skin problems such as dimpling are rarely, if not never, experienced though. Before undergoing mini liposuction, it’s important that the patient be aware of its risks, no matter how rare and small they are.

To achieve better results, patients are often provided with a special transdermal cream that, when applied to the target area, helps promote fat breakdown and skin tightening. This special cream can even prevent new fatty tissue from accumulating. Not all clinics offer this treat though.

Costs

Mini liposuction is virtually cheaper than regular liposuction, though the actual value still depends on certain factors. Among these factors are the following:

  • The expertise and experience level of the surgeon
  • Where the clinic is located
  • How healthy the patient is
  • The size of the area to be treated

On average, mini liposuction costs about $2,500. Though in certain locations, the actual cost can be cheaper. Because there is no need for the patient to be bedridden, as is the case with liposuction involving general anesthesia, there are no hospital costs to be incurred.
