New Liposuction Techniques – Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction

Recent breakthroughs in medical technology have paved the way for safer and more effective liposuction techniques. One such technique is ultrasonic assisted liposuction or UAL for short. Ultrasonic assisted liposuction makes use of sound waves to literally melt fat and turn them into liquid state. This makes it easier for surgeons to remove the fat.

How UAL Works

The procedure starts with the injection of a tumescent solution. This fluid consists of an anesthetic, saline solution and epinephrine. Injecting this mixture helps prevent fluid loss during the whole operation as well as prepare the fat deposits for easier removal.

After the tumescent solution is administered, a small incision is made over the target area. A tiny cannula is inserted and made to come in contact with the fatty deposits. An external generator produces sound waves which are then transmitted through the cannula. These gentle but effective sound waves quickly liquefy fat. The cannula is then used to vacuum out the literally “melted” fat.

Benefits Ultrasonic Liposuction

Ultrasonic liposuction has the potential of producing better results. Ultrasound makes it possible to treat parts of the body with very dense fat deposits as well as remove large quantities of fat in one session. Unlike traditional liposuction, UAL has an added side-benefit: it helps tighten the skin around the target area. This makes it a more suitable substitute for tummy tucks or face lifts, which are initially designed to get rid of excess, sagging skin.

What Areas of the Body Is UAL More Suited For?

Because UAL allows the surgeon to perform fat removal with more precision, it’s very effective for neck and chin fat removal. UAL can be used to treat areas that traditional liposuction can target. It is, however, more suited for getting rid of “love handles” and gynecomastia (excess male breast tissue). Ultrasonic liposuction can be used to further contour areas that have already been treated using traditional liposuction to produce better results.

Tips To Search UAL Surgeons

Ultrasonic assisted liposuction tends to cost a little bit more than traditional liposuction because of the technology involved. However, since it’s more commonly used to target small areas, its price can compete with that of other liposuction methods. Not all surgeons are specifically and thoroughly trained in ultrasonic assisted liposuction. You may experience a great deal of difficulty in searching for one. You can also expect such surgeons to have more expensive fees. Nevertheless, the results are worth it.

A UAL-qualified surgeon should be able to explain to you the possible complications and risks surrounding the procedure. Such risks include burns, scarring and blistering due to the heat that is produced by the ultrasonic waves. Another complication worth noting is seroma, a condition that occurs when the body tried to produce excess fluid to fill in the void that results from fat removal. A trained surgeon should know how to best prevent and solve those problems.
