New Non Invasive Liposuction Techniques – Lipodissolve
How Lipodissolve Works
This liposuction alternative involves the use of a series of injections containing a mixture of mild medications and enzymes that can melt fat deposits. The drugs most often used are deoxycholate and phosphatidylcholine (which are called DC and PC for short). Once injected, the mixture breaks down fatty deposits and literally kills fat cells. The melted fatty acids are then eliminated naturally by the body through urination and excretion.
Unlike traditional liposuction, Lipodissolve body contouring is administered through a series of treatment sessions. Results are gradual; although many patients report seeing improvements in their figure after only one sessions.
No incisions are necessary since the body gets rid of the melted fat through natural waste elimination. Hence, there is very minimal scarring or infection to worry about.
Safety and Risks
A study spearheaded by a plastic surgeon named V. Leroy Young, MD, reported side effects which include swelling, bruising, redness and slight pain; all of which are fairly manageable. His studies showed no signs of infection or excessive scarring.
Many people look into the possibility that Lipodissolve can solve the problem of dimpling which traditional liposuction can cause. Unfortunately, Lipodissolve does not completely solve this problem. Dimpling in the skin naturally occurs even without cosmetic surgery performed because the skin will gradually become inelastic due to age. Furthermore, traditional liposuction only causes dimpling in patients who are not classified as “good candidates”. The more elastic the skin, the better the results.
One of the reported complications of Lipodissolve are nodules (scar tissue). These are a common problem, even with other forms of cosmetic surgery, and will go away with time. It is not recommended to undergo another form of surgery to remove nodules.
Limitations
Although Lipodissolve has shown promising results and superb potential, it’s important to understand that it is designed for small areas of the body. Using Lipodissolve to remove large quantities of fat may not necessarily yield the best results. In such cases, either a tummy tuck or traditional liposuction is highly recommended.
Furthermore, Lipodissolve has not yet been approved by the FDA despite the fact that it makes use of natural ingredients. This has been a cause of concern for patients deciding between traditional liposuction and Lipodissolve. Nevertheless, this new alternative to lipo has yielded surprising results and good safety record.
